Talaba, who had taken three days to reach Tashkent from Iraq taking a bus to Damascus and two plane trips to Moscow and then on to the Uzbek capital, doubled their lead 14 minutes later as the hard-working Younes got in behind the defence to slide the ball coolly into the far corner.
It was all Talaba as the Iraqis went on the rampage and Ahmad Salah nearly making it three on the half-hour mark as he slipped between defender and goalkeeper, only to hook the ball onto the roof of the net.
Talaba sealed the victory, and perhaps more crucially the third goal to match Pakhtakor's scoreline against Nisa, when in added time substitute Alaa Nehrooz worked his way into the box and squared the ball to Younes for a simple tap-in at the far post.
