Al Farabi (870-950) was born of a Turkish family and educated by a Christian physician in Baghdad, and was himself later considered a teacher on par with Aristotle. His treatise On the Agreement of the Philosophy of Plato and Aristotle showed how he saw their ideas to be the same in contrast to the belief current in philosophy in his time.
