Vancouver Canucks, Alain Vigneault, National Hockey League - CBS SportsLine.com (574 words)
Vigneault will get that chance next season after the Canucks hired him Tuesday, promoting the 45-year-old Montreal coach from their minor league affiliate.
Vigneault was chosen to replace Crawford in hockey-mad Vancouver in part because of his experience in Montreal, where he coached the Canadiens from 1997 to 2001.
Vigneault was an assistant with the expansion Ottawa Senators from 1992-96 before becoming the second-youngest coach of the Canadiens on May 26, 1997.
