AlamSimsim, which airs at 4:15pm during Ramadan, is the local co-production of Sesame Street, the famous series made by the US-based Sesame Workshop.
AlamSimsim aims to provide young Egyptian children and their families with an entertaining educational experience.
By improving children's readiness to learn, and by increasing the knowledge of their parents, AlamSimsim is designed to treat some of the underlying causes of Upper Egypt's low primary school enrollment levels, high primary school dropout and failure rates and low literacy among women.
AlamSimsim incorporates an innovative curriculum created by local educators, child development experts, and producers to encourage children to develop positive self-esteem, to respect and appreciate others, and to develop a life-long love of learning.
AlamSimsim is co-produced by Alkarma Edutainment and Sesame Workshop in Cairo, Egypt.
AlamSimsim is produced in cooperation with Egypts Ministry of Education, which helps maintain the educational content of the show, and the Ministry of Information, which supports the series by facilitating broadcast on Egyptian Television.
