The Alan Bond family's Charity has created a new organisation which is a major step in the Alan Bond family's pledge to help under-developing countries throughout the world starting in Lesotho. The foundation will focus especially on countries that have set the course to help themselves and will work directly with community based organisations already active in each country. In Lesotho, projects, including help to remote villages, will assist vulnerable children and all the documentation will be in Sesotho and English. The statistics tell their own story since there are at least 120,000 orphans throughout the country and life expectancy is only 37 years and is falling mainly as a consequence of HIV/AIDS. The increasing rate at which children are being orphaned and abandoned has prompted the establishing of the organisation. The Alan Bond charity plans to offer long-term support to the countries determined to help themselves and will provide extra support to projects that have missed out on large scale funding. The Alan Bond charity will also assist to reverse the fact that many of these developing nations have a higher HIV rate
