Alasdair Fraser is a Scottishfiddler who spends much of his time in the USA. One of the leading artists featured by Culburnie Records, he also teaches at the Valley of the Moon fiddle camp in California. Adept in various Scottish idioms, he can make a fiddle sound like a well-graced pipe if he so wishes, but that is by no means "the only string to his bow." On many of his albums you will find at least one familiar slow air, as well as "listening sets" of dance tunes displaying the unique swinging elastic bounce that finds its home in Scottish music. In recent years, with cellist Natalie Haas, he has helped to reconstruct and revive the Scottish tradition of fiddle accompanied by "big fiddle," or cello.
