KHANTY-MANSIYSK, Russia -- Russia's Albina Akhatova beat teammate Svetlana Ishmouratova by 2.7 seconds to win the women's mass-start event at the Biathlon World Championships on Saturday.
Akhatova shot clean and finished the 12.5-kilometer race in 37 minutes, 15.8 seconds for her first gold medal.
Ishmouratova also shot clean, adding a second-place finish to her third-place in the women's pursuit.
