Advertising, Labeling, and Formulation Division, which is responsible for statutory and compliance provisions for the formulation and labeling of alcoholic beverages, as required by the Internal Revenue Code and the Federal Alcohol Administration (FAA) Act;
International Trade Division, which encourage industry compliance with international trade regulations;
National Revenue Center, which processes paperwork and collects revenue for the TTB;
Regulations and Procedures Division, which drafts and revises TTB regulations;
Laboratory, which provide scientific and technical services for the bureau and the industries it regulates.
The Alcohol and TobaccoTax and TradeBureau (TTB) is the result of the division of the functions of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Tax collections functions of the ATF are now under the Department of the Treasury and law enforcement functions of the ATF are under the Department of Justice.

In the early 1950s, the name of the Bureau of Internal Revenue was changed to "Internal Revenue Service" (IRS), and the ATU was given the additional responsibility of enforcing federal tobaccotax laws.
The agency's name was officially changed to the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives" in recognition to the agency's role in explosives regulation and enforcement; however the Bureau retained the use of its original acronym, "ATF", for all purposes.
Additionally, the collector of federal taxrevenue derived from the production of tobacco and liquor products originally handled by ATF were transferred to the newly established Alcohol and TobaccoTax and TradeBureau (TTB), which remained within the Treasury Department.
