AUGUST 4, 2005 MARYLAND VETERANS MEMORIAL COMMISSION AND ALL STATE LEGISLATORS GREETINGS: I am not sure to whom I should direct this message so I will send it to every e mail address I can find on your website. If it is not you would you please be so kind as to forward it to the proper person or office . I live just outside the city limits of Hagerstown ., Maryland, I am a honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. NAVY having served during the KOREAN era In Hagerstown there is not one monument that is dedicated to all our brave veterans…. The city will soon erect a monument that will honor only those gallant warriors who died during WW1. For the past several months I have been trying to convince the city leaders to include all vets of all wars in the new monument inscription . I have written a zillion letters to the entire city administration but as of this writing I have had no response what-so-ever ….. And for whatever reason I cant get any assistance from any of the service clubs in my area . Right now I am single handedly trying to get the city government to rename the public square to “ veterans square “ but I doubt if I will succeed . Do you have a program that will aid and assist in the procurement and erection of monuments to our vets ? I don’t think I can get it done alone , my mind and spirit are willing and able but my 71 year old body is saying slow down. The situation with the city is to involved to be included in this writing but I would be in your debt if I could speak with someone in your organization who would possibly be able to help me , Please contact me personally at your earliest convenience Best regards RONALD F.
