Alexander Pavlovich Brullov (November 29, 1798 - January 9, 1877) was a Russian artist associated with the latest phase of the Russian Neoclassicism. As a painter he was completely overshadowed by his illustrious brother, Karl Brullov. As an architect, he delivered lectures in the Imperial Academy of Arts for forty years. Among his best known commissions in St Petersburg are the Michael Theatre (1831-33), Pulkovo Observatory (1834-39), Lutheran church on Nevsky Prospekt (1833-38), and the Guards Corps Headquarters on Palace Square (1837-43).
