Alexander Williams Randall (1819-1872) was a lawyer, judge and politician from Wisconsin. He served as Governor of Wisconsin from 1858 until 1861. As governor, Randall raised eighteen regiments, ten artillery batteries, and three cavalry units before leaving office, exceeding Wisconsin's quota by 3,232 men. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln appointed him as U.S. minister to the Vatican. Camp Randall Stadium - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (347 words)
Camp Randall Stadium was built in 1917 and is the current home of the Wisconsin Badgers football team.
The stadium received its name because it lies on the grounds of Camp Randall, a former Union Army base during the Civil War that was eventually absorbed by the Wisconsin campus.
The camp was named after Governor Alexander Randall.
