Alexandre Romankov (Александр Анатольевич Романьков), a great fencer. Born on the 7th of November 1953 in a town calle Korsakov on the island of Sakhalin (just north of Japan). One of the most successful Soviet fencers, regarded by some as the greatest foilist of the twentieth century. Affectionately called Sasha (in Russian, the diminutive form of Alexander) by fencers the world over.
