His Eminence Alexandre Do Nascimento (born 31 March 1925) in Malanje, Angola) is a former Roman Catholic archbishop in Angola. On 2 February 1983 he was ordained Cardinal by Pope John Paul II. From 1975 to 1977, Nascimento served as Bishop of Malanje. In 1977, he became Archbishop of Lubango. And from 1986 until 23 January 2001, Nascimento was Archbishop of Luanda. He has also served as editor of the Catholic newspaper "O Apostolado" and lecturer at the Pius XII Institute of Social Sciences.
