Alfred E. Kahn is the Robert Julius Thorne Professor, Emeritus, of Political Economy at Cornell University. He was Chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board, 1977-78 and advisor to President Jimmy Carter on deregulation. He was a former Chairman of the New York Public Service Commission. He is the author of The Economics of Regulation: Principles and Institutions, among many other books and articles. He is a Special Consultant to NERA Economic Consulting. Professor Kahn received his Bachelor's (summa cum laude) and Master's degrees from New York University and a Doctorate in Economics from Yale University.
