Born Alisdair Ward, Algy has been an on & off (when friends) bass player with The Damned. Played bass on what is known as a seminal alternative / punk / pop / Goth record; Machine Gun Etiquette for The Damned. These records are often left out of music history lessons though are critically acclaimed by critics, music historians, and members of many later bands to contain some of the earliest sounds of what would become common place styles of playing in radio-orientated pop music. He also was briefly a member of the Australianproto-punk band The Saints (playing on their second album Eternally Yours), and also founded and fronted the seminal New Wave of British Heavy Metal outfit Tank during the 1980s. We spoke first off about Algy's days with The Saints, there's a new box set coming out this month which includes a live CD which Algy plays on, he was waiting for the courier to deliver his promo copy that day.
Algy then told me about the new Tank CD which is fully written, he is just waiting to have his operation and then its back into the studio to record it.
Algy then had to head off to his girlfriend's place so I stayed with Kipper for a pint and then made a sad attempt to find my way back to the pub where I was staying.

TANK bassist/vocalist AlgyWard has posted a message on the TANK "This Means War" web site regarding the recent reports that he was scheduled to be taken into hospital next month to have a tumor removed from his head.
