Ali Khalif Galaid currently lives in the United States, in Minnesota. He is known to be an active part of a large Somalian community in an area of Minneapolis called the West Bank. He is a professor at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for the study of public policy, and is listed as "Ali K. Galaydh" at that institution. He teaches, among other topics, about economic development in the third world.
ROME, Italy (Reuters) -- Somalia's Prime Minister AliKhalifGalaid arrived in Rome with a delegation of ministers and businessmen on Sunday on a three-day visit in Italy.
AliKhalif was accompanied by Foreign Minister Ismail Mahamud Hure, Interior Minister Dahir Sheikh Mohamed, the finance and reconstruction ministers and a group of deputies and businessmen.
AliKhalif, who was named prime minister by President Abdiqassim Salad Hassan in October, will meet Prime Minister Giuliano Amato and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Rino Serri on Monday.
