Aljona Sawtschenko started skating with the age of 3. Her father practiced with her on a lake. The father also wanted to take her to a figure skating school in Kiev when she was 4. But they were told that she was to little. So they tryed again a year later and succeeded. Her first partner on the ice was Dmitri Boyenko. They were representing the Ukraine. Their homeclub was Dynamo Kiev. Their coach was Alexander Artychenko. The pair separated after the junior world championships in 1998. She teamed up with Stanislav Morozov. Their homeclub was also Dynamo Kiev and they were also representing the Ukraine. The pair became junior world champion in 2000. Their coach was Galina Kukhar. After the pair separated in 2002 Aljona Sawtschenko searched for a new partner worldwide. She found him in Robin Szolkowy. In 2003 she moved to Saxony in Germany. They train in Chemnitz. They instantly won the German championships in 2004. Their coach is former world champion Ingo Steuer. Her homeclub is now the Chemnitzer EC.
