The All Arms Commando Course is run by the Royal Marines. It lasts for 10 weeks. Members from any of the United Kingdom's Armed Forces can attend. Following a 2 week period, which brings soldiers from a broad range of backgrounds up to a common standard of basic skills, the course then focuses on core military skills, including: Patrolling, Defence, Section and Troop Level Attacks, and Field Firing
The course then covers the following Commando skills: Amphibious Assault Drills, Cliff Assault Drills, Helicopter Drills, and Survival. The course concludes with a week long Final Exercise followed by a Test Week.
The following Commando Tests must be passed by the recruits: bottom field assault course; (30 ft rope climb with 30 pound weight and rifle, a full regain with 30 pound weight and rifle, 200 m fireman's carry - yours and a colleagues webbing of thirty pounds each and both rifles - in 90 seconds, and around the course in under 5 minutes) 9 mile speed march (90 minutes with 30 pounds of kit) tarzan assault course (13 minutes) endurance course (72 minutes) and the 30 miler (over dartmoor to be completed in 8 hours - 7 hours for RM officers)
