The All Nigeria People's Party is a conservative political party in Nigeria. At the last legislative elections, 12 april 2003, the party won 27.4 % of popular votes and 96 out of 360 seats in the House of Representatives and 27 out of 109 seats in the Senate. Its candidate at the presidential elections of 19 april 2003, Muhammadu Buhari won 32.2 % of the vote. The ANPP is the household party in the extreme north of Nigeria primarily due to it's conservative and islamic appeal. It is the strongest opposition party in Nigeria as it controls 7 of the 36 states in the country. The party's biggest acheivment in the last election was it's gubernatorial victory in Kano where it defeated the ruling PDP to take control of one of the countries most populous states. Notable members of the party include Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Don Etiebet, Harry Akande, John Nnia Nwodo, and Chief Edwin Ume Ezeoke. The All Nigeria Peoples' Party (ANPP) is planning to go to the Election Petition Tribunal to seek redress of the outcome of presidential poll, newspapers in Nigeria reported on Friday.
The ANPP's plan was made on Thursday after it resolved differences with its presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari on what steps to take on the outcome of the April 21 election, the newspapers reported.
The ANPP also said it would support mass action or any form of civil protest by civil society organizations over the conduct of April 14 and 21 poll, which it said, were massively rigged.
