Helenard Joe Hendrickse (popularly known as Allan Hendrickse) (22 October, 1927 - 16 March, 2005) was a South African politician, preacher, and teacher. He was born in Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape and died of a heart attack at Port Elizabeth's airport. Hendrickse was one of seven children born to a minister, Charles Hendrickse and his wife.
Hendrickse completed a BA degree and a diploma in theology and returned to Uitenhage where he taught in a "coloured" high school for the next 18 years and was also a part-time preacher.
Hendrickse collapsed and died of a heart attack at Port Elizabeth Airport, and was certified dead on arrival at hospital.
Hendrickse was an opponent of apartheid for more than three decades, although he was criticised for working inside the political institutions created by the white regime.
Born in Uitenhage in 1927, Helenard Joe Hendrickse was the fifth of seven children of the minister of the Dale Street church.
