Allan Rourke, who played in 25 games for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2003-04 as a rookie, has signed a contract with the Islanders.
The 25-year old Rourke was originally selected by Toronto in the sixth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
In his last year with the club in 1999-00, Rourke was named to the OHL Second All-Star team as a result of his 31 goals from the blueline.
