Allan von Schenkel, is among the next generation of double bass soloists, who are taking the great instrument in new directions. He is currently exploring 21st Century music that is written in a lyrical and accessible context. To that end he is seeking new compositions by experienced composers who are willing to write for his new vision of the double bass. Allan views the double bass as being a singer that has six distinct voices. Over eighty composers from all over the world have embraced his lyrical approach to the instrument.
