Encyclopedia > Allen (1913 Philadelphia automobile)

The Allen was a short-lived American automobile manufactured in Philadelphia from 1913 to 1914. The company offered friction-drive two- and four-cylinder cars.

Confusingly, another American company also offered a car called the Allen, also in 1913.

THE TRAMWAYS OF BRAZIL (1748 words)
The bridge that the tramway used to cross the river was built by the Anglo-Brazilian Iron Company under the supervision of Kermit Roosevelt, son of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.
Theodore visited his son in Piraju in October 1913 and both left the area soon after, long before the tramway opened.
The tramway was sold in 1921 to Marcos Rolim, a local industrialist, and in 1925 to the region's electricity outfit, Companhia Luz e Força Santa Cruz – which was controlled by the Votorantim Corporation of Sorocaba.
