Shot by Steve Teers of Allen Ginsberg reading at his last UK stage appearance, including poems and songs to a packed audience in London. It is a film of Allen Ginsberg at megatripolis, at Heaven nightclub, under the arches, Charing Cross, London UK from Thursday 19th October 1995 where Allen Ginsberg read poetry and performed songs live on stage for 53 minutes to an audience of about 1000 people. It was edited by Steve Teers of Diva Pictures who also co-produced the film. The event was the second birthday celebration of megatripolis, an underground club-night that ran at the Marquee and Heaven nightclubs in London, from 1993 to 1996 each Thursday night which regularly attracted an audience of 1500 people each week. Steve Teers who co-produced and edited the film, was the archivist for the megatripolis club and filmed the event. The film sees Allen Ginsberg, dressed in blue shirt, red braces and slacks reading on stage at a single microphone, with assistance from poet Tom Pickard for the duration of the performance. He was initially introduced by Lee Harris who also booked him for the event. He read a selection of poems, from the 1970's White Shroud era to 80's Cosmopolitan Greetings and 90's new and unpublished poems. He also performed a Tibetan meditation and sung William Blake accompanying himself on the harmonium as a singalong finale. The audience was made of clubbers, students, journalists, writers, new and old beats, hippies, crusties, academics and intellectuals who contrived to produce a great atmosphere. The DVD was released in the UK in June 2005 as a DVD with no extras, simply the poet's reading. The film was premiered in Covent Garden London in June 2005. The film runs for 53 minutes. The film cover features a close-up picture of Allen Ginsberg at the microphone on stage in Heaven.
