Greenbriar Ave. is home to the Allied Gardens Recreation Center and Allied Gardens Pool (next to Lewis Middle School) and further down the hill, just off Greenbriar on Estrella, are the community Little League fields. The presence of some of AlliedGardens' original homeowners, mostly in their 80s now, will attest to the strong sense of community and continuity that have made AlliedGardens what it is today, according to longtime resident John Peterson.
Peterson and his wife bought their home in 1954, when AlliedGardens was "still out in the country." The community was carved out of the 6,000-acre Waring Ranch, and cows still grazed nearby when the Petersons moved in.
