The Allison YT40 Engine was a 5,500 horsepower turboprop engine developed for use in aircraft by the Allison Engine Company, the same company that developed the Allison V-1710, used in famous aircraft such as the Lockheed P-38, the Bell P-39 and the Curtiss P-40.
