Almolonga, the village where we work, was founded in 1839 and is situated at 2.200 m altitude, 3km outside Quetzaltenango (Xela).
Almolonga is also known world wide for its extremely fast evangelic conversion.
One benefit from the strong religious influence is that Almolonga, once suffering from heavy alcoholism as so many other indigenous villages in the highlands, now is one of the most productive communities in Guatemala.
As a consequence Almolonga is one of the cleanest most prosperous towns in all of Guatemala, it is a city of churches. The people practiced idolatry as Maximon a patron saint was worshipped.

Pastor Caballeros states, concerning the transformation that has taken place in Almolonga: I believe that the primary reason for the change of the spiritual condition of the people in Almolonga is because the pastors began practising the ministry of deliverance.
