Alone in the Dark is a 2005 horror movie based on the popular video game of the same name. It is directed by Uwe Boll, and stars Christian Slater as supernatural detective Edward Carnby. The movie is a direct sequel to the last installment of the game series, but contains plot elements that directly contradict it, thus whether it's considered canonical is debatable. Like Uwe Boll's previous attempt at a movie adaptation of a video game, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark was universally panned by critics, and was cited many times as a lock for worst movie of 2005, and in fact, possibly one of the worst in history.
