Alpha is a 1983 album by rock quartet Asia. After the huge commercial success of their first album, Asia, Alpha sold poorly and was considered a disappointment to most fans. Filled with commercial hooks, Alpha was the product of Geoff Downes' and John Wetton's song-writing. Steve Howe was mostly left out of the writing process, causing tensions within the band. Recorded in Morin Heights, Canada, Alpha is Asia's second album with John Wetton as vocalist and last album with Steve Howe as guitarist. The first track on Alpha, "Don't Cry", became a minor hit. The album had the Picard family coat of arms on its front cover, and contained pictures of his ancestors, along with records of famous events, and information from his own personal history.
The album was later placed in his ready room, where it was recovered after the crash landing of the Enterprise's saucer section on Veridian III.
Of the three copies of the Picard family album, the master is kept at Star Trek: The Experience, where Penny Juday flips the pages whenever she can so visitors can see something a little different every time.

This album was to have an enormous success and would become later a symbol of resistance because of the song 'Brigadier Sabari', where Alpha criticised the harassment of the police and took his own life's experience as an example.
Alpha Blondy sang against politic manipulation and denounced the bad management of the government fund for some private goal in the album "les voleur de la republique" (republic robber) in year 2000.
