Deneb Algedi (also al Giedi, Algiedi, arab: "the goat" or "the child") is the name of the star Alpha Capricorni (alpha Capricorni). Deneb Algedi is a double star already separable with the naked eye (angle distance 6.4 ') similarly as Mizar and Alkor. However the two components are differently far from Deneb Algedi, it are thus present an optical double star. The western of the two stars, the +4.2 likes bright Alpha1 Capricorni, is distant from the spectral type G3 Ib and 1500 light-years from the earth, while the more eastern of the two stars, +3.6 m bright Alpha2 Capricorni is distant for which from the earth from the spectral type G9 III, "only" 120 light-years. Prima Giedi (Alpha1 Capricorni) is known as Prima Giedi "goat" or Algedi Prima.
π (pi) Capricorni is a magnitude 5.3 blue-white star, with a close magnitude 8.5 companions 470 light years away, visible in small telescopes as a fine pair in a field of widely scattered stars.
