Alpina vehicles is NOT a "BMW modified by Alpina", They are built as NEW cars branded "Alpina". Alpina is a stand alone car manufacturer in close co-operation with BMW all according to EU legislation while a lot of others "BMW-companies" like AC Schnitzer, Hartge, Racing Dynamics, Hammann etc etc are tuners and just modifies cars. this is a quiet important matter when buying an Alpina and importing it from Germany. A Distinctive feature of Alpina cars are their 20 spoke alloy wheels.

The Alpina engine is a 4.8-liter with 375 hp, with individual throttles for each of the eight cylinders and many other racecar-like engineering features.
The power peak of the Alpina engine comes at 5800 rpm vs. 6600, and its torque peak occurs at the same 3800 rpm but is actually higher, with 383 lb-ft. (vs. 368 lb-ft).
