History

Altötting was one of the original parts of Bavaria. It was settled by Bavarian tribes shortly after the retreat of the %20%20%20%20The%20Roman%20Empire%20is%20not%20the%20Holy%20Roman%20Empire%20(843-1806).%20%20%20%20%20%20%20... Romans. During the rule of duke Tassilo III (748-788) the place of Ötting was mentioned for the first time (the towns of Altötting and Neuötting are derived from that place). Soon in the 9th century the region became a religious centre with famous churches and monasteries. Geography

The district is located in the alpine upland on the %20%20%20The%20Republic%20of%20Austria%20(%20%20German%3A%20Republik%20%26%23214%3Bsterreich)%20is%20a%20%20%20landlocked%20country%20in%20%20%20Central%20Europe.%20...
