Alta Vista Ward (Ward 18) is a city ward in the city of Ottawa, Canada. The ward with its present boundaries was created before the 1997 Election as Alta Vista-Canterbury Ward out of Alta Vista Ward (western half) and Canterbury Ward (eastern half). It was renamed to Alta Vista in 2000. The ward is in Ottawa's east end, and covers the neighbourhoods of Eastway Gardens, Riverview, Alta Vista, Heron Gate and Sheffield Glen. A ward is an electoral district used in local politics, most notably in England, Scotland, and Wales, as well as Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, and many cities in the United States and the federal district of Washington, DC.
