Alternativa Sociale (English language: Social Alternative) is an Italian political coalition of neo-fascist parties. The coalition grew from Libertà di Azione, which was established by Benito Mussolini's granddaughter Alessandra Mussolini after she left the Alleanza Nazionale due to their attempts to move away from their Fascist past. Mussolini united her group with the Fronte Sociale Nazionale, Fiamma Tricolore and Forza Nuova for the European Parliament election, 2004, gaining one seat in the European Parliament. The group is committed to a strong Italian nationalism that celebrates and glorifies its past, and has been particularly critical of Gianfranco Fini's modernisation of the right.
