The Alternative for a Republic of Equals (Spanish: Alternativa por una República de Iguales) is an Argentine political party. After 2001 elections it held 17 of 257 seats in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies, and 1 senator, and its candidate, Elisa María Avelina Carrió got a 14.1% share of the vote in 2003 presidential elections.

Elisa MarÃa Avelina Carrió (born 1956) is an Argentinian politician, founder of the center-left Alternative for a Republic of Equals party (ARI).
Born in the province of Chaco in a traditional family, she was appointed a prosecutor during the last military dictatorship, known as the Proceso (1976-1983).
In the 2003 elections, Carrió was candidate for her party, obtaining fifth place with about 14% of the votes (it should be noted that the votes were scattered; the winner only got 24%).
