Its limits are Amajari to the north, Boa Vista in the east, Mucajaí and Iracema in the south and Venezuela in the west.

Alto Alegre is a Brazilian city of the state of São Paulo. The latitude is 21.34 S and 51.09 longitude W. The population in 2004 is 3,991 and the area is 319.132 km².
The forests of the Bosque de Protección Alto Mayo represent 182,000 hectares and is the largest remaining tract of Selva Alta in northeastern Peru.
The water resources that have their origins in the RÃo Alto Mayo and its tributaries are vital to the future of this region.
