Altrincham and Sale West includes some of the richest parts of the UK, notably Hale and surrounding villages. Altrincham itself is inclined to both Conservative and Labour advances, the affluent suburbia of this side of Trafford maintains largely Tory support. In terms of council wards, it consists of the Altrincham, Bowdon, Broadheath, Hale, Mersey St. Mary's, St. Martin's, Timperley and Village wards of Trafford council.The seat also has a notable Jewish population,many of them Mancunians who have moved South West of the city into this wealthy part of Greater Manchester.As it stands after 2005,this is the only Tory seat in Greater Manchester.
