The Amargosa Desert is located in western Nevada, USA, along the border with California. The valley lies at an elevation of about 2,600 - 2,750 feet, and includes the community of Amargosa Valley, which lie at the southern end of the desert. The Amargosa desert lies between the Funeral Mountains on the west and Yucca Mountain and the Nellis Air Force Range to the east, in Nye County. Amargosa River - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (458 words)
The Amargosa River is an intermittent stream, approximately 200 mi (320 km) long, in southern Nevada and eastern California in the United States.
It enters the northern Mojave Desert where passes west along the southern side of the Amargosa Range, then turns north in a U-shape, flowing along the western side of the range and entering the southern end of Death Valley.
The section of the river where it flows perennially is in the Amargosa Canyon along the southeast end of the Amargosa Range near the town of Shoshone, California.

The Amargosa is an ancient river, flowing though an "antecedent canyon" that has always been its ancestral route.
The rare Amargosa vole is found in wetlands adjacent to the river and nowhere else in the world.
