Amda Seyon II was negus negust (1494) of Ethiopia, and a member of the Solomonid dynasty. He was the infant son of Eskander, and a second wife of Eskander's father Baeda Maryam. The Emperor of Ethiopia (Amharic ንጉሠ ነገሥት, niguse negest, King of Kings) was the hereditary ruler of Ethiopia until the abolition of the monarchy in 1975. ... Amda Seyon quickly became the pawn in the struggle for control of the throne, which ended in his death, and the ascension of Na'od. As Taddesse Tamrat writes, "Amda-Seyon's reign lasted for only six months, and even the hagiographer betrays a sense of great relief at the announcement of his death."1 Naod was negus (1494 - 1508) of Ethiopia, and a member of the Solomonid dynasty. ...
