Admission and Demographics

Admission is guaranteed for US residents in Delhi. Eligibility in all other cases is limited to children whose parents or legal guardians are temporarily residents in India and located in New Delhi. Eligible Indian students may be admitted only with the approval of the Government of India. 30 percent of the school's 1146 students in nursery to twelfth grade are Americans, the majority of students represent more than 46 nationalities. The school director is Bob Hetzel. A legal guardian is a person who has the legal authority (and the corresponding duty) to care for the personal and property interests of another person, called a ward. ... The School is governed by a 7-member Board of Governors, elected for 2-year terms by the American Embassy School Association of New Delhi, the sponsor of the School. This group also aims to ensure that the school remains a part of the local community.


Curriculum and Facilities

The curriculum is that of general academic, college-preparatory public schools. The School's testing program includes the College Board and American College Testing tests. Instruction is in English. French and Spanish are taught as foreign languages. English-as-a-Second-Language is offered for non-English-speaking students. The School also offers the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs. Most of the graduates go on to colleges and universities in the United States and other countries. The School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The English language is a West Germanic language that originates in England. ... Library

The MS/HS Library supports the American Embassy School 's mission statement. It enables and inspires its students to be passionate learners, responsible citizens, and fulfilled individuals, who make well-informed choices in a diverse and dynamic world. Our role is to provide the human and material resources that will enable students and others in the AES community to develop these skills.


It is the library's goal to help all students, staff and parents use all resources and services found in the library to its maximum potential. The vast collection of books (over 30,000 fiction, non fiction and reference), magazines (138) and videos (over 2400) seek to support the instructional and recreational reading/research needs of the school community.
