History
The American Front began as a loose organization modelled after England's National Front, both of which attempted to merge the Skinhead subculture with White Power politics. Heick was known as "Nazi Bob" at this time and was best known for terrorising the San Francisco Punk and Anarchist scene. This climaxed with Heick and a buddy of his breaking the windows of Haight Street Anarchist bookstore Bound Together Books. A meeting was going on at the time, and those in attendance poured out of the shop to stop Heick from continuing any damage. A skinny, 40 year old Hippie, with a pony tail and glasses beat up Heick, whose buddy fled immediately. The name National Front, is used by a number of political parties and coalitions. ...

It is unclear if Bob Heick decided to start the American Front on his own, or was directed to do so by White Aryan Resistance leader, Tom Metzger. Bob Heick and the American Front also gain notoriety by being a thorn in the side of prankster and misanthropist artist Boyd Rice's past. Heick and Rice posed in American Front uniforms for an article on Neo-nazis in Sassy Magazine. Rice claims that was never really a member of the American Front, but liked the dynamic character of Bob Heick and had been instructed by Charles Manson to infiltrate the growing White Power Skinhead scene and turn them into Manson cultists. Heick and the White Power Skinheads were pressured out of San Francisco in the late-eighties, relocating to Portland, Oregon where they continued to cause trouble. Boyd Rice in Portugal, 2004. ...

Activity The National Front published the magazine "Revolutionary Nationalist" out of Portland, Oregon. Outside of their venture into publishing, many American Front members have committed heinous crimes. In 1991, police offers searching a Beaverton, Oregon residence from which American Front members had been evicted found a "hit list" of Portland police officers who were to be targeted. In California and Washington during July of 1993, there was a series of bombings targeting public meeting places for Blacks, Gays and Jews in California and Washington. Alledged American Front members Wayne Paul Wooten, Jeremiah Gordon Knesal and Mark Kowaalski were convicted of committing two of those attacks: the bombing of the Elite Tavern (a Gay club) and the bombing of an NAACP meeting hall. According to then U.S. Attorney Mike Yamaguchi, Wooten, Knesal and Kowaalski were part of a larger conspiracy to incite a race war. The bombings seem to have been timed to coincide with the sentencing of the police officers convicted in the Rodney King case, presumably to take advantage of heightened racial tension connected with the case. Change of leadership and location The American Front briefly resurfaced under the leadership of James Porazzo. Porazzo moved the American Front to Harrison, Arkansas, and began to push a more obviously Third Position philosophy. The Third Position is a mix of extreme Right and Left wing politics. The American Front currently uses a great deal of Communist ideology amongst their White Power politics. Porazzo advocates "socialist revolution in a racialist context," explaining "We propose a workable, realistic alternative, and that is Separatism! White autonomy, Black autonomy, Brown autonomy and death to the current twisted system.... The only other obvious route would be an eventual winner take all race war: I don't think anyone with any sense would want that... " This particular version of Communist analysis targets Jews as the major players in the capitalist system. Porazzo also blames Zionism for the general state of global turmoil. During this period the American Front used working class, anti-capitalist, environmentalist, anti-globalization, communist positions in conjunction with a racial organizing platform, just as they used the Skinhead scene, Industrial music and Satanism in the eighties.
