Encyclopedia > American Steam Car

The American Steam Car was, quite simply, an American steam car, produced by Thomas Derr from 1924 to 1931. Most of the cars were either conversions or manufactured with Hudson chassis and bodies. The company catered largely to former Stanley Steamer owners.

American Steamer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (176 words)
The American Steamer was an American steam car manufactured by the American Steam Truck Co. of Elgin, Illinois from 1922 to 1924.
Typical of the glut of steam cars that tried to get on the market in the early 1920s, the car featured a twin-cylinder compound double-acting motor.
At least 16 cars are known to have been built, though it is possible that as many as 20 actually left the factory.
