AUAf's first Undergraduate Program and 2006/7 Academic Year formally opened on September 10 2006. AUAf is delighted to welcome its first undergraduate students to the 2006/7 academic year. Students will study towards a US-style liberal arts degree in Business Administration or Information Communication Technology. The majority of the undergraduate students had previously enrolled in the Foundation Studies Program, illustrating the benefits of a preliminary course aimed at ensuring that all students have the English abilities and the critical thinking skills to excel in a modern university.

AUAf also welcomes university faculty from throughout Afghanistan who are studying in the Higher Education Program and the Academic Success Program. On successful completion of the AUAf course, both programs will offer these faculty members the opportunity to study abroad, in the US and elsewhere, in order to increase their skills before returning to their current positions.

Other new students are taking part in the Professional Development Institute Business English courses aimed at professional Afghans who use English in their work, and the Foundation Studies Program which is preparing students for undergraduate courses starting in January 2007.

AUAf faculty and staff warmly welcome all new and returning students and look forward to a challenging, interesting and successful semester.
