Amoghavarsha Nripathunga was the greatest of the Rashtrakuta kings. Many scholars flourished during his rule. Ganita-sara-samgraha of Mahaviracharya was composed in his rule. Kavirajamarga, the first literary work in Kannada, is ascribed to Amoghavarsha himself. he also wrote Prashottara Ratnamalike. The Rashtrakutas were a dynasty which ruled the Deccan during the 8th-10th centuries. ...


Amoghavarsha was a disciple of Jinasenacharya, the author of Mahapurana, and part author of the Dhavala text.


The Jain temple of Pattadakal, and the Basadi at Konnur was built during his time. The Neminatha basadi at Malkhed Manyakheta was also originally build during his rule. Pattadakal is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka famous for its group of monuments that comprise of initial experiments in Hindu temple architecture. ...


Amoghavarsha was son of Govinda III. He became ruler at age 13. A revolt led by Vijayaditya II, of Vengi throne, temporarily overthrew Rashtrakutas until 821 when Karakka reinstated Amoghavarsha. Amoghavarsha's daughter married a Ganga prince in about 860. He died in 878 and was succeeded by his son Krishna II.
