History

The area was originally part of Mueang Kamphaeng Phet district, then named Tambon Pong Nam Ron. The government separated and created Tambon Khlong Nam Lai in 1976 and Tambon Khlong Lan Phattana in following year. These tambons were upgraded to a minor district (King Amphoe) in 1978, which was officially upgraded to a full district on March 20, 1986.
