Amr Moussa is by far the most popular Egyptian diplomat and there have been numerous calls by Egyptians asking him to run for Presidential elections. Moussa was a very outspoken diplomat and he was well known for his sharp criticism to US bias towards Israel especially after Israeli massacres in Southern Lebanon. It is said that he was essentially moved to the Arab League to remove him from the spotlight as he was becoming a strong contender to President Mubarak of Egypt and the US wanted him silenced.

In 2004, there has been an online community that gathered tens of thousands of signatures petitioning for Amr Moussa to run in the 2005 elections, but there has not been any response on his behalf.

Mussa would like to look instead to the presses of Egypt and Syria, countries where little that is printed appears without some degree of government approval, countries where there is widespread circulation of the sort of gutter anti-Semitism not generally seen in Europe since the days of the Third Reich.
Mussa does not even have to leave the confines of his own bureaucracy to find racism, or at least racism in the ludicrous way that he defines it.
