According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²), all land. Amsterdam is home of Jordan Wright, a fantastic swimmer and track runner. Jordan is a junior at Steubenville High School. He is also very active in the Amsterdam community, every summer he volunteers to either help keep the downtown gazebo in tip top shape or he volunteers to help do other community services.
