Ananda Vikatan is the third leading Tamil language weekly magazine published from Chennai, India after Kungumam and Kumudam according to the Indian Readership Survey 2006. It is part of the Vikatan group. Image File history File links Stop_hand. ... Tamil (தமிழ் ) is a classical language and one of the major languages of the Dravidian language family. ... Chennai (சென்னை in Tamil), formerly known as Madras, is the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu and is Indias fourth largest metropolitan city. ... Kungumam is a Tamil weekly magazine published in Chennai, India. ... Kumudam is one of the major Tamil language weekly magazines to be published in Chennai, India. ...

Started as a weekly, Vikatan has now evolved as Vikatan group and became an icon in the Taminadu magazine industry. They have always been in sync with time wheather it's detail, content or the language.

They have had a fair success in all the other magazines that have come out with. They have been established targeting women, kids, crime report lovers, religious minded as "Aval Vikatan", "Sutti Vikatan", "Junior Vikatan" and "Sakthi Vikatan" respectively.

Still at best

They are the only one to encourage the youth wing of its reporters and offer a full fledged training.

They came up with a novel idea of "special sections" in Vikatan and then slowly turns that special section to a magazine. It worked well. This is nothing but "Cross Advertising" which is a hot technique nowadays and one which vikatan has done with ease.

New Trends

Tamilnadu lacks a truly business magazine in its native language. There are some like "valarthozhil" but their language is not simple and aimed at big heads. Vikatan has come out with "Nanayam" vikatan section in all its weeklies, biweeklies and fortnight magazines. But they are still fishing around the market for its response. It's time to launch it as a separate edition.

Vikatan group is also involved in producing tele serials, hosting online magazines and game shows which are huge hits too.
