Anastasis (from the Greek word for "resurrection") is a term infrequently used in medical circles to describe a recovery or "bounce-back" from a debilitating condition. One case where anastasis is common is catastrophic irradiation of human tissue. Depending upon the level of damage, victims of radiation poisoning can experience an immediate adverse consequence to their exposure, followed by a seemingly full recovery. After a period of time, a secondary set of symptoms, often fatal, will follow.
For example, the immediate symptoms of exposure may include vomiting and tremors, followed by a week or so of seemingly good health. After this grace period, however, the subject will start to experience bleeding of the intestinal tract and hair loss, depending upon the amount of rads absorbed.
Anastasis means "to stand again." It is used to refer to the resurrection.
Anastasis means 'resurrection'–it is a "standing again." In contrast to the apostate choice of Archimedean point, we can make the proper choice.
Furthermore, he uses the remarkable phrase, to "discover our self to our self in the anastasis."Anastasis is therefore a re-discovering of our true self, which was lost in the fall.
When he has entered the Anastasis, a hymn is sung, a prayer is said, first the catechumens and then the faithful are blessed, and finally the dismissal is given.
The dismissal is given there, and everyone goes to the Anastasis, where a prayer is said, the catechumens as well as the faithful are blessed, as is customary, and the dismissal is given.
Anastasis - Literally "the Resurrection" - the empty tomb of Christ at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
