Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 19,111 people, 7,320 households, and 5,526 families residing in the county. The population density is 36/km˛ (94/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 96.53% White, 2.35% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
